Improved sorting & invoice duplication

Apr 4, 2025

This update was published over a year ago. Some of the information may be outdated.

Today, we made two updates that improve both invoices and estimates:

Sorting invoices by number now makes more sense

When sorting invoices (or estimates) by number, the results didn’t always match what people expect. This happened because computers and humans sort mixed text (letters and numbers) differently. For example, with numbers like A20249 and A202410, we humans think A20249 should come first. But computers used to put them in the opposite order.

We’ve changed how the sorting works to match what people naturally expect. It’s not perfect every time, but it’s much closer!

Duplicated invoices use the latest customer and company info

Sliptree keeps a full record of company and customer details on every invoice. This way, if those details change later, old invoices still show what they looked like back when they were created.

Now, when you make a new invoice by duplicating an old one, we use the most up-to-date customer and company info instead of the old details. This means you won’t accidentally use outdated information if something has changed since the original invoice.
